"Wow, what a difference a year makes!
In spite of daily cardiovascular exercise, I could no longer ignore my burgeoning belly and a lack of flexibility that made it difficult to tie my shoes. Given a history of back pain and a family history of heart disease and diabetes, as well as my own admonition that I would never allow myself to get out of shape, it became evident that I needed to "do something".

My wife, Sandra, suggested that I try strength training with Sharon and yoga with Heather. With some trepidation I started about a year ago and have not looked back. In conjunction with some modification of my caloric intake, I have lost about 20 pounds, am more flexible than I have been since childhood, and overall feel better than I have in probably 20 years. I have even taken-up running, a sport for which I have been precluded from participating due to back and joint pain in the past.

At StudioFit, Sharon emphasizes total body strength enhancement in a gradual, systematic way, and with an emphasis on building core strength. This attention to core training is timely given recent research linking abdominal fat accumulation to heart disease and other medical problems.

Heather takes a patient, holistic approach at Studio Yoga which seeks the right balance between effort and relaxation to improve flexibility and balance. I have been impressed with both of these professionals in how well planned each session is, and with their firm, yet positive coaching that succeeds in encouraging their clients to meet or exceed their individual goals. They actually make these sessions fun as well as enjoyable. In fact I look forward to my strength and yoga classes each week.
